Plumber in Hoboken, NJ
Most plumbers in Hoboken spend their day in brownstones and walk-ups, and so do we. The square mile is almost entirely older attached housing, much of it divided into apartments, with plumbing that has been extended floor by floor and basements where every inch is spoken for.
Every Hoboken job runs under David Elias, NJ Master Plumber License #13793, and the company is fully insured.
For license verification, see the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.

Two problems come up again and again here: water pressure that is wrong for the building, and leaks that start in one unit and show up in another. Both are worth fixing at the cause, because in a building where every floor shares the same pipes, a quick patch in one flat usually becomes the next call from the flat below.
Water pressure and pressure reducing valves
Pressure problems in a walk-up run both ways. Upper floors can be weak because old supply lines have narrowed. Elsewhere, a failed pressure reducing valve (PRV) lets too much street pressure into the building, which shows up as banging pipes, running toilets and fixtures that wear out early. We test the pressure at the main, then decide whether the fix is the valve, the piping or both.
Leaks between floors
In a divided brownstone the water in your ceiling may come from the unit above, the shared stack, or a line running through the wall. We trace it before anything is opened, so the right owner pays for the right repair.
Basements and tight access
Meters, water heaters and boilers packed into a small basement, often below street level, make access part of the job. We plan the shut-off and the route first, and keep the rest of the building running wherever we can.
After a water main break
Hoboken's water mains are old, and breaks in the street happen. When the supply comes back, sediment can come with it. That can clog faucet aerators, the screen in a pressure reducing valve, and the inlet to a toilet's fill valve, so the pressure stays low even after the street is fixed.
If pressure has not recovered a day after a break, the problem is usually inside the building rather than in the street. We find which screen or valve is blocked and clear or replace it, usually in a single visit.
Flooded basements
Hoboken basements flood in heavy storms. A water heater or boiler whose gas controls have been under water must be checked and those controls replaced before it is restarted. Do not relight it yourself.
